EVENT HIGHLIGHT
If the heat and the smell of barbecues didn’t clue you in, summer has (finally) made its way to Britain. To welcome it in, we’ve had the likes of a fantastically-fancy-dressed disco, an AC/DC tribute that left us all thunderstruck, and a perfectly chaotic bingo night hosted by yours truly. But our most recent band night has somehow warmed the heart of HCC more than the recent heatwave.
After a 40 degree week, with no signs of cooling, we HCC staff members were livin’ on a prayer (haha), anxious over the turnout for Wrong Jovi’s gig on Saturday, the 27th of June.
Thankfully the community pulled through, with locals and Bon Jovi superfans alike braving the heat. What followed was one wild night, jam-packed with heavenly guitar solos, rockstar energy, and enough cold sparks to light up anyone’s night. By the end of the night, it was easy to see why people were calling Wrong Jovi “better than the real thing.” This fantastic band kept people headbanging and hitting the air guitar on the dancefloor for their entire set.
And to top that (yes, it’s possible!) the night ended with the England squad going head-to-head with Panama in their last match of the group stages. A slow start to the game gave punters a moment to catch their breath after a night full of rockin’, but, thanks to Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, the match ended 2-0 to England, sending the Three Lions into the knockout stages.
With more band nights to come at HCC, and more games to come for England, this summer could boast victories for our community and country.

Are you a long-time resident of Holt, perhaps even born and bred here? Or are you new to the town and would enjoy hearing and sharing memories and stories about Holt of the past, and North Norfolk generally?
Then why not come along to the ‘John Jarvis Monthly Memory Swap’ (usually on the third Tuesday of the month) from 2.00pm – 4.00pm, in the large hall of Holt Community Centre. John Jarvis shows archive films and photos and material from old Holt Almanacs on the big screen.
Perhaps you have memories to share and stories to tell about growing up in Holt, and the ‘old days’. Perhaps you just like to be reminded and to remember.
Dynamite and Dinosaurs

This pop-punk and rock band visited us early last year and brought a night full of high-energy anthems, so we just had to have them back!

Hirayama feels content with his life as a toilet cleaner in Tokyo. Outside of his structured routine, he cherishes music on cassette tapes, reads books and takes photos. Through unexpected encounters, he reflects on finding beauty in the world.
Although on the face of it, this may seem an unlikely subject for an uplifting film, those of us who have already seen Perfect Days all agree that this is one not to be missed.

Hammer to Fall – Queen Tribute

If I told you Freddie Mercury was coming to Holt, you probably wouldn’t believe me. And you would be right not to! But if I told you East Anglia’s favourite Queen tribute was coming to Holt, you had better believe it.
Yes, that’s right! After their smash-hit performance in April 2025, Hammer to Fall will be returning to Holt Community Centre this October. They were so popular, and so downright fantastic, that inviting them back was a complete no-brainer. Expect Freddie’s powerhouse vocals, Brian May’s iconic guitar solos, and all your favourite Queen anthems.
The last time they performed, tickets completely sold out more than a month before the show, so I would highly recommend booking yours as soon as possible.

WCC: 2026 – 2027 Season

On the strength of the enthusiastic response to the previous two seasons, which shone the spotlight on some gems of world cinema, the WCC team are planning a third season, again hosted by Holt Community Centre and supported by Creative Arts East.
Season tickets are now available, priced again at £25 per person, making the cost of a ticket for each of the 6 films a mere £4.16.
Once the season has begun, individual tickets (at £6.50) for individual films will be available online, or walk-in tickets should be available on the door on the night.
